The USA Women’s Cricket National Team is in Frisco today. The national team chose Frisco as a stop on their training schedule for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. They’ll be competing against Argentina, Brazil and Canada in Regional World Cup Qualifiers coming up October 18-25, 2021 at Reforma Cricket Club in Mexico City.

The Women’s team will hold a training session at Lebanon High School. Why a Frisco high school? With the popularity of the sport increasing, Frisco Independent School District recently announced the inclusion of cricket into the sports curriculum for boys and girls. Lebanon High School student, Snigdha Paul, is a left-handed batter who is part of the U19 Women’s National Training Group and a non-traveling reserve for the USA squad.

We aren’t just highlighting one training session. North Texas is actually about to become home to USA Cricket. Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world. It’s growing fast in the USA and very popular here in Texas.  North Texas has several cricket teams including men’s, women’s, youth leagues, and high schools.

USA Cricket, in partnership with Major League Cricket, will launch operations in late 2022 at the former Texas AirHogs Baseball Stadium in Grand Prairie following the completion of a $13 million renovation.
